Thanksgiving or “Canada’s love/hate relationship with Fall”

Every couple of weeks I submit a little rant to be featured on the menu of SPIN resturant in the Marriott Hotel here in Ottawa. Here’s this weeks:

“Thanksgiving always has me reflecting on the past year and the promise of good tidings to come. Fall is the most underrated of all the seasons. It’s more than passing strange such a glorious season gets so little attention. It’s not for want of trying, bringing us a bountiful harvest of just about every vegetable and grain we could want, even the trees scream with colour unseen but for a few weeks a year. And, perhaps this is why the autumnal season gets short shrift, it’s fleeting nature and slow crawl reminds us winter remains just around the corner. We’re Canadians - even in the deep of winter we can find things to be thankful for.”
